7 Money Saving Tips For the Busy Mom
Tip 1:
Get together with the neighbours and have a yard sale. We all have items that we no longer use and this is a great way to get rid of them and make some money in the process. If you combine it with a few neighbours than all the organising and stress of it will be divided too.
Tip 2:
Enlist the help of your kids. They are great at making their own lunches, cleaning around the house and even some of the washing and ironing. This will not only give the kids a sense of purpose it will also teach them valuable lessons and give them a sense of pride, not to mention saving you time and money.
Tip 3:
Don’t throw left over food away. Freeze any left overs and reuse them either as a meal an other night or as part of a new meal. Rice, noodles and even meat is fantastic to reuse.

Fast food is a favourite with many children but can be very expensive and unhealthy. Next time you go to a fast food restaurant get an extra bag and take a heap of napkins and condiments. Save the cutlery and any other extras you get. Than at home you can make your own chicken nuggets, chips, burgers and can even include a toy from the dollar shop.
Your little kids will never know the difference, so they don’t feel like they’re missing our and its a lot cheaper for you too.
Tip 5;
Research recipes to make you own home cleaning products and save yourself a bundle. Your house will be just a clean without the dangerous chemicals around your kids.
Tip 6:
Buy generic. Most products are made in the same factory and put in different packaging. I have found that in a lot of product there is no taste difference yet the price difference can be huge. Sometimes as much as 30-40%. Next, take a look at generic over the counter medications. Compare the ingredients to the brand name equivalent. 99% of the time they are exactly the same, but with a $1-2 difference.
Start out trying the generic brands one by one until you find all the ones that you can use instead of the labelled products.
Tip 7:
Invest in a clipper set. Haircuts are expensive and a waste of money for kids. Clipper sets are inexpensive, you can get a great one for around $70.00 and you can use it easily learn how to use it for all the males in the house, saving you a ton of money.
